It’s time to start forming your teams to represent your SIR Branch for this year’s All Branch Championship.  Last year was the first time in years that all 4 SIR Branches of our Area 19 were represented at the match.  As some might recall, Branch 179 walked away with the perennial trophy...edging out one of Branch 159’s teams at Ridge Creek by three net strokes.

The Championship’s format will be the same as last year, which increased the number of SIR in this Area who were able to participate..  Basically, each SIR Branch can field as many 6 man teams as they want to participate in the Championship.  Golfers from each Branch can get a 6 man team together to compete and let their respective Golf Chairman for their SIR Branch know their 6 team members.  Branch golf chairmen will send me the names of each 6 member team along with current NCGA indexes.

The Championship is being held at Madera Muni (gold tees) on Thursday, OCT 26.  Golfers will play at 90% of their course handicap (standard in NCGA events).  Each team will have 6 golfers compete. Team scores will be the total of the 5 lowest nets for the team.  That way, a team member with a bad day score-wise won’t feel like he caused his team to lose.  🙂  Also, if a team only shows up with 5 members on OCT 26 they can still compete.

So...each Branch can field as many 6 man teams as they want.  Last year SIR 159 was represented by 4 teams...but SIR 179 won the Championship with their lone 1 team.  Again...the match format encourages maximum participation by SIR Branches with a fairly level playing field.

Cost to play will be $3 per team member.  This will go towards purchasing trophies for the overall two low gross and two low nets.  Also for golf towels with the SIR logo awarded to the low net of each flight (after awarded trophies...only one award per individual).  All golfers can also buy into the regular SIR 159 4man2BB tournament being played the same day.  $5 gets you the chance to win money in the 4man2BB, also into two CTP holes with payouts for the closest 4-6 shots.
